In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Add the warm liquid mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring to combine.
Gradually add more flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough is soft and no longer sticky.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Or run your stand mixer on low for 5 minutes.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-15 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. OR roll into two loaves and place them on a pan.
Cover the rolls/bread with a cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until doubled.
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a golden finish.
Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. 35 minutes for bread.
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the subtle sweetness and pillowy softness of these homemade Hawaiian rolls
